"The secret’s out!

Take influences such as Daft Punk/MGMT/Mr.Scruff/Wu-Tang and Vampire Weekend, mix them all together and what you get is something extraordinary. Total domination of Paris’ underground scene has encouraged Secret Alphabet to spread their wings and offer fresh talent to British soil and a signing to Manchester based label ‘Rhythm Records’ will guarantee they do just that!

Recent aural treats include a remix of ‘Back of the Van’ by LadyHawke to create ‘Set Me On Fire’. The brand new single ‘Troubled Souls’ is a masterfully crafted arrangement of rolling double bass, break beat, sampling and interesting use vocal effects."

~On Hold Selection

"Tired of mainstream French electro-disco beats, ƼƩ₵ɌЄȾΔĿƥĦλßĒŦ burrowed deep underground, creating easy listening, minimalistic melodies. This soul- and jazz-influenced style of electro-lounge has created a quirky paradox of tracks which make you want to crash on the sofa but at the same time get up and dance.

"Set Me on Fire" and "Troubled souls" are just soundbites of what the
band have to offer, with a hotly-anticipated full album set to be released in October. The first track partially-covers Ladyhawke's much-loved "Back of the Van" and creates something quite avant-garde, yet still captivating in its simplicity. ƼƩ₵ɌЄȾ ΔĿƥĦλßĒŦ manage to embrace a few of the original track's quirky riffs and iconic vocals, then re-imagine them in their own unique way. This is defintely a track which would sit very comfortably on a "Ministry of Sound: Chillout Sessions" album.

"Troubled Souls" is slightly more up-tempo with the introduction of a steady drumbeat alongside the innovative style showcased elsewhere. With vocals reminiscent of the ubiquitous Tunde Adebimpe, the debt owed to bands such as TV On the Radio is apparent without being overwhelming.

Both tracks make for an easy and enjoyable listen, allowing you to indulge in their contagious, minimal melodies and leaving you wanting more. Consisting of Jean Luc, Sophia Fatale and Audrie Valle, the band's future appears very promising – watch this space for a full review of their album, later this year."
